2016 DFW Auto Show to Showcase MY 2017s, Ride & Drive Events, Classic Car Corral

It’s an exciting time in the automotive industry! The buzz continues to build about self-driving cars. And even though we may not completely be ready to turn over the wheel to computers, advancements in technology have made driving safer, easier and even more enjoyable! On Dec. 1, consumers can feast their eyes on the latest and greatest from a variety of manufacturers at the 2016 DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth.

“I love the car business,” said Jim Hardick, 2016 DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth chairman. “Every year, manufacturers introduce something new that makes me say, ‘Wow.’ Technology-driven trends are revolutionizing the industry, and what better place for consumers to learn all about these advancements than the Auto Show.”

An impressive lineup of all-new 2017 vehicles is scheduled to appear at this year’s DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth including: Audi A4 and Q7; Cadillac XT5; Chevrolet Bolt EV and Cruze RS Hatchback; Chrysler Pacifica; Honda Civic 5-door and Ridgeline; Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe; Jaguar F-Pace and XE; Kia Cadenza and Niro; Land Rover Evoque Convertible and Discovery Sport; Lincoln Continental; Mazda3 and Mazda MX-5 RF; Mercedes-Benz C43, GLC300 and S550 Cabriolet; Nissan Pathfinder and Rouge; Porsche 911 and Boxster; Subaru Impreza; Toyota 86; and Volvo S90.

Outside, Auto Show attendees can get up close and personal with a variety of vehicles from Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota at the Ride & Drive event. Located at the Water Garden adjacent to the Convention Center, the driving experience is complimentary with Show admission. Product specialists will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate all the amenities and driving capabilities the vehicles have to offer.

“This is a great opportunity to see how some of the vehicles from inside the Show handle on the streets of downtown Fort Worth,” Hardick said. “Everything from compacts to sedans and SUVs to pickups will be available to test drive from these three manufacturers.”

The Outdoor Ride & Drive Event will be held from 1 to 6 pm Thursday and Friday, Dec. 1 and 2; and 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4. Participants must be 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

This year, the DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth is pleased to present the Classic Car Corral, a four-day event that will take place in the Annex at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

According to David Hershey, organizer of the Classic Car Corral and vice president of Creative Services for CBS11/TXA21, the Classic Car Corral will showcase the very best of automotive history from nearly every decade. The display also will feature a special tribute to the legendary vehicles from the No. 2 movie of 1977, “Smokey and the Bandit”.

“Visitors also will get to see a replica Kenworth 18-wheeler rig similar to the one Jerry Reed drove in the original movie, several black Trans Am replicas made famous by the “Bandit”, Burt Reynolds, and a 1977 Pontiac LeMans police car represented by “Buford T Justice portrayed by the late, great Jackie Gleason,” Hersey said.

Also scheduled to appear are the North Texas Mustang Club display and several movie replica cars, Hershey added.
